Dept of wrapping it up...... We would like to take a minute to wish all of our families, crew, sponsors, tracks and fans a Merry Christmas and Happy New year from the Mageau family . This year we are taking a much needed vacation in peaceful Waimea , Hawaii. We send along this picture of the dogs as posed by Theresa. We will see you all in 2009! - The Mageau's
great shot! - We are lucky to be in a class that gets a lot of coverage in the press. There are always lots of photographers around where ever we go, and we are privileged to get a lot of shots of our cars. Each year we comb through all the shots and pick our favorites. Not an easy task when looking through a hundred photos. We whittle it down to 10 or so, then 5 then 3 and so on. Usually the last one we pick is decided on a coin toss . We ran 2 different cars in 2008 so our favorite picture of 2008 was actually 2 pictures by 2 folks. Our favorite picture of the AA/FA fuel altered was by Bernie Frey of Medicine Hat. The shot was taken on the Prospector's maiden run at Medicine Hat in September. Seconds after the shot was taken the car shook like dog drying off from the rain. - Our favorite funny car shot comes from Paul Grant of Surrey BC. He captured the Prospector vs Bubble Up at the Mission Canadian open back in July. Its a great action shot and really grabbed us. Paul has a unique eye for motorsports. Its worth your while to check his site at http://www.330images.com/
Dept of Promo's - As the year draws to a close, so does the 2008 season for MFR. The boys put the '57 back together so we could spend a wonderful evening on display at the Edmonton Fasteners annual open house. We put the car in the warehouse and visited with some E-fast customers through out the night. What a great bunch of people!
dept of updates - Wow. December 1st already, where does the time go? For us , it goes into the vette body lately. Worked all weekend. Got the new headers 3/4 fabbed and fit, got the skirts built and fit , got the new spoiler built and fit, 7/8 of the tin is done, body burst panel almost is fit... but there is so much more to do still..... was hoping to have the thing ready for Joeys Dec1 , but that's not happening now. Hope he doesn't tell us to GFYS. Bob has managed to peak at the paint scheme Joey has dreamed up and sez it looks cool. more as we know it.
dept of upcoming events - The Prospector will be on display at the annual Edmonton Fasteners customer appreciation night Thursday Dec 4 from 4 - 8 at the west end store
Dept of updates - still plugging away on the new Stinkray body build . Man! Its a major job. We have done other bodies before and always remember AFTER we build a new one how much work it really is. The boys are working twice a week right now on the body. Last night they had to reinforce the upper windshield area to allow the windshield to be brought up a few inches for better vision. The also reinforced the front lip under the nose as it is flexing excessively when the body is lifted. The Corvette is much much smaller than our '57 , so all new headers are being fabbed up as well. AND THAT'S A WHOLE BUNCH OF LABOUR! below, the boys had to take off the side skirts, reinforce some glass then roll the car over . click the pictures for a full size view
- work inside also is happening with the tin beginning to take shape. We hope the major tin is done by the end of the weekend
- some work has begun on the Girl Trouble Racing dragster as well. Go to Courtney's site to follow that deal.
- As of today, we have 20 days before we fly to Kauai and enjoy some sunshine, rum, ice cream and relaxation at the Waimea Plantation . If you ever get the chance... go there.. its truley paradise on earth. While hanging out, I Am going to meet a racer by the name of Ty. Ty and his brother have a cool nostalgia bodied Monza funny car they run in Hawaii , and have invited us over for a beer and some bench racing Hawaiian style. Hope they have t shirts, gonna have to bring Roland back something .........
Dept of updates - We have learned an old friend is shutting down his business and moving on. MFR would like to wish Tony Richards of Tony's Tin Shop the best of luck in his new direction.
- How about this rumor. IHRA hosting a full field of AA/FC at 2009's Rocky Mountain Nats in Edmonton. Just a rumour!
- more work is happening to the new STINKray body as we speak. Our goal is to have it sitting at the paint shop, www.joeysplace.com for December 1, but thats a lot of work between then and now.
Remembrance Day in Canada
Today is remembrance
day in Canada, Nov 11, . We would like to take this time to thank the Canadians
involved in conflict and peace keeping around the world, and ask others to join
us in taking a moment to remember those killed in duty over the years, and
recently the 97 Canadian soldiers killed since 2002 in Afghanistan.
Dept of Gettin her dun
- we stopped working on the new Corvette back in July to
get the altered built.. so after a few weeks off we decided we better get
back on the tin and body because Joeys going to need it soon. We cut the
hole for the engine last night . Its sticks through pretty good.

Will post a few pix over the next week or so. Some things get out of hand while the move in takes place......

WRAP UP PARTY PIX
Whew! The MFR race season is officially over. Our wrap up party was a big success . Aside from sharing a few sociable's with about 300 friends, we gave away some great door prizes, and unveiled our big surprise for # 4 daughter, Courtney Mageau, who has unfortunately got the drag racing sickness. We are bringing a 225" rear engine dragster into the fold. Courtney will begin her licensing in spring 2009. She will have her own web site as well, go here to see the start of it. Her car will be called Girl Trouble.
will post some pix soon. Meanwhile, here's the 2008 MFR wrap up video we played at the party. Turn up those speakers!
